For those of us who hope 2020 vision can see the truth for what it is and change it.
The bullies, the bigots,
the hate monkeys mad
with fear, ennobled
by its only known
over-the-counter
antidote—rage;
the mob thinkers,
the ruthless who
follow their own
rules; the thugs
in knight’s clothing;
the twittering fops
with toxic swine
burning crosses,
smoke signaling
the cremation
of compassionate
culture;
the self-righteous
as sure as guillotines
are sure of gravity;
those with feasible
morality whom war
has given permission
to abandon, with
menacing calm,
all distinctions
of guilt and merit
—do not join them, do not join them,
do not join them.
No, I absolutely will not join them! With appreciation from the southern hemisphere.
